Our central heating has a Drayton MAmid-position valve that no longer works properly. I'm stuck when it comes to the diagnosis. I guessed this has something to do with the Mid Position Actuator (Drayton MA1). The likely fix is a replacement valve, which will mean draining down your whole system. On the left is an ACL mid position actuator and valve assembly probably over ten years old. On the right is a modern (2011) Drayton MAactuator.

I've had them before where the heads fine but the spindle on the body is sticking.
